Meet Dr Walkow (Dr. W)

Todd Walkow, DMD

Dr. Todd Walkow was born and raised in Los Angeles, CA. In 1992 he graduated from the University of California Irvine where he received a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and a minor in Anthropology. He then traded in his surfboard for a winter coat and headed to Boston, MA to attend Tufts University School of Dental Medicine. While at Tufts, Dr. Walkow served as Class President for all four years and became an avid New England Patriots fan. He graduated and gave the class commencement speech in May 1996. He then moved across town with his golden retriever, Orion, to attend Harvard University to start his orthodontic residency. Upon admission, he received a research grant and was concurrently admitted to the Harvard Public Health School where he received an MS in Epidemiology. Although Dr. Walkow had developed a deep love for New England, he returned to California to be close to his family that summer.

In January 2000, Dr. Walkow became the owner and operator of Walkow Orthodontics in Newport Beach, CA, specializing in orthodontic treatment of both children and adults. He developed a reputation as a regional specialist in treating advanced bite issues and problems with the jaws, including ones requiring orthognathic surgery and children with Cleft Lip/Palate. Dr. Walkow was also one of the earliest adopters of Invisalign (self-proclaimed: OG) in Southern CA and has treated several thousand patients with clear aligners.

Dr. Walkow’s professional journey has also included significant contributions to organized dentistry. He served for 8 years on the Board of Directors for the California Association of Orthodontists (CAO) concluding his last term as President.

After 20 years in his practice, Dr. Walkow made the conscious decision to take his experience on the road and work as a contract orthodontist, where he could focus solely on patient treatment and experience. In 2024, Dr. Walkow became a partner in Image Orthodontics, further solidifying his commitment to providing exceptional orthodontic care. When Dr. Walkow is not in the office, you will likely find him reading, doing a crossword puzzle, listening to music, meditating, swimming, taking a long walk or hike, cooking, or spending time with close friends and family.

Dr. Cua is always very caring & concerned with my treatment. I appreciate this very much. Terry is always nice & helpful. Lilia is always welcoming. The dental assistants are usually professional, and always competent. However, I noted that while an assistant was asking me questions, another assistant came up to him to ask questions that had nothing to do w/ my appt. For me, this was rude & very unprofessional. You should at least say excuse me instead of just deciding to interrupt my appointment. Unless it’s an emergency, your questions can wait. In effect, you’re saying that your lack of knowledge is more important than my treatment. Recognize the fact that your co-worker is attending to a patient and either wait or, if urgent, say excuse me to the patient. Notwithstanding this momentary lapse in professionalism, I appreciate the entire dedicated staff at Image.

I have been coming here since 6th grade for my braces and as a now Sophomore in high school, I can see a difference in my smile. The people here are really sweet, they make sure that you are comfortable, and are always willing to answer any questions or concerns you have about your process. Not only are the workers great at what they do but they’re also great at creating a safe environment for kids. When I first got my braces, I was really nervous but my dentist was reassuring and made me feel confident in my smile. Overall, this place is great and would highly recommend!

I had such a an amazing experience at my consult today! I’m starting Invisalign here and every staff member that assisted me today was kind & gave me all the information I needed to make the best decision for myself!4 Month Update:I started my Invisalign in July & I just had my first appointment to check on my progress. Everything is going well with my treatment. I’m fortunate that my Invisalign isn’t hurting me very much at all. There is some discomfort on the first day on a new aligner but it goes away quickly. Today I was cleared to change my aligners every 7 days. I’ll post an update when I get to the end of my treatment!Near End of Treatment UpdateI am nearly finished with my treatment. My teeth look amazing, I get compliments on my smile often. I had more aligners than a few people I know who’ve gotten Invisalign & I think the subtle movements are they reason that I didn’t experience a lot of pain. I have an appointment later this month (September 2023) & I’m pretty sure that my attachments will be removed & I’ll be given instructions on how often I should be wearing my retainer to maintain my results. I feel like this time has flown by so quickly. Very happy with my decision! Next update will be post final appointment.7/15/2024I love my smile! So glad I invested in Invisalign. I will say the retainers are a lot more expensive than I anticipated. You have to wear your retainers after treatment to maintain your results. My bottom retainer broke after only a few months & apparently I was supposed to have been offered a payment plan to have “retainers for life” it costs $900 on top of the cost of the treatment but you get two free retainers a year. Other than that, a single set of retainers costs about that. It was something that could have been written into my original payment plan for my treatment so definitely ask about it if you decide to get them. If it isn’t included in your contract for your Invisalign treatment, they offer for you to pay a down payment & then I think you can make a few monthly payments to pay for the retainers for life.Other than the retainer issue, I am very happy I chose to straighten my teeth. I feel so much more confident. Try to stay on schedule & do exactly as your doctor says. It didn’t take long at all to completely change my smile.

Wonderful experience on my first day of treatment! I was so nervous because I am not a fan of dental work but Maria made me so comfortable, she was empathic and super thorough in her explanations. I got aligners but they still have to place gear and shave the teeth a bit. The whole procedure was painless, smooth, and super chill. Maria also gave me lots of super important tips that have been crucial to help me stay on track. It has been several weeks and I have already seen so much progress in my smile. So happy that I found Image Orthodontics! I booked through their website, which is very convenient, and got my appointment the next day! I arrived 15 minutes prior to my scheduled time. I just sat down waiting for them to call me, and guess what? The waiting time was just 2 minutes! The gentleman who helped me with my X-ray was very kind and helpful, though I forgot his name. I felt so welcome! I also love Ashley—she helped me throughout the process, explained my insurance coverage, and assisted me in booking with the oral surgeon for next week. Image ortho (pleasant hill) has been assisting us since 2022 to get our 13 yr old his braces. We didn’t get what we hoped for, but this year, we started his journey to a new smile. Our son is excited but nervous. He has his braces and Herbst appliance on now. We are excited for him and we thank image ortho for all their help and guidance. I recommend them for braces especially for children. We have another child and hopefully we don’t need one for him, but if we do, we will definitely go with image ortho. 🫰🙏🫶🏻

Dr. Kalika is amazing and absolutely the master of orthodontics who doesn’t shy away from difficult cases, for which he finds creative and innovative solutions. I strongly recommend Redwood Smile dental for all kids, who are looking for regular dental services. Redwood Smile is a very kids friendly clinic. Big screen of cartoon on top of each section. Dr. B is super professional, nice doctor, and most importantly she cares for kids. Today nurse Ellen and nurse Galo helped both of my kids. They are both very patient and careful. So far Redwood Smile is my best dental experiences for my kids.

I moved to the San Francisco Bay Area in 2021. Due to the pandemic my daughter was unable to proceed with her treatment plan. With us having to relocate I needed to find a new orthodontist office for my 12 year old daughter as soon as possible. Image orthodontics was conveniently located near us. When I called to schedule they were also accepting new clients. During her first visit they instantly made the both of us feel welcomed. The office was clean and the atmosphere was inviting they went above and beyond with Providing my daughter exceptional care the assistant Sarah was so sweet and attentive making sure she was comfortable. I could tell by the way she was able to converse with me throughout my daughters ortho visit that she was very skilled and educated as a orthodontist assistant even taking some additional time to further explain the after care. Image orthodontics helped provide my daughter phenomenal results and a bright smile for a lifetime

Best pediatric dentist office, bar none. They are timely, thoughtful, sensitive, and truly care about our children. Our family was a little nervous at first with our 4yo daughter coming in for 6 cavities, but Cindy (Gma) and Dr. B were amazing. So knowledgeable, comforting, and just hands down, class acts. They really listen and are a great team. The whole office just exudes professionalism and positive, happy vibes. It’s infectious. Such cute, modern and clean decor/overall experience as well. They truly live up to their names, and provide big smiles (to patients and us parents). I can’t recommend Dr. B and Gma enough. We’ll be back with our 3 and 1 year old next week! Mahalo

I called the office this afternoon to schedule a consultation and let's just say it was my lucky day because a slot was open. I went in and INSTANTLY knew that I was at home. The entire staff was amazing. Both Alexis and Liz took good care of me. The visit was thorough and I was out in less than an hour. I have a nice plan set up that's budget friendly and will be getting a fresh set of braces in a few weeks! Dr. Walkow was awesome!! My younger kids were seen by Sky, she was really kind, professional and friendly and made my kids feels really comfortable. It was a wonderful experience for them.Shalisha was wonderful. Professional, kind and friendly. She was really careful with my older daughter. Reminder her about how to care for her teeth at home.

You aren’t going to find better Orthodontists in Fairfield🦷. They’ve really been accommodating in my teeth alignment journey as I attend a University across the country. On call, they are always prompt on phone calls and I’m able to set appointments whenever I come back to the Fairfield Area. One thing that separates this business from other practices is the casual connections I am able to create with the workers. Workers like Maria have treated me through the years ever since I first going to the dentist as a child with my parents. There is a humanistic aspect in the building that isn’t normally seen in medical fields. They have positively transformed my attitudes about dentistry and smile, and I reccomend anyone looking for a better smile and positive orthodontic experience here at Image Orthodontics 😁

Whoever the Dentist and assistants that took over the role of extracting the wisdom teeth did an amazing job. The Dentist who’s name I was unable to get was truthful and did the job so well.
