Dr. Michael Simontacchi-Gbologah

A native of the Bay area, Dr. Michael Simontacchi-Gbologah was raised in Alameda.

He attended Howard University in Washington D.C., where he graduated Phi Beta Kappa, Summa Cum Laude, earning his Bachelors of Science in Chemistry, while serving as captain of Howard’s Division 1 soccer team.

In 2008, he earned his Doctorate of Medical Dentistry at the prestigious University of Pennsylvania, School of Dental Medicine. He continued on at the University of Pennsylvania, serving as Chief Resident during his post-doctoral Orthodontic residency and received his Orthodontic specialty certificate in 2010.

In his spare time he enjoys spending time with family and friends, mountain biking, hiking, and being active. He is dedicated to his profession and passionate about working with his patients. His goal as a clinician is not only to create beautiful, functional and healthy smiles, but also to build mentorships with his patients and serve as a positive and uplifting voice in their lives.

When he would have issues with his braces, I would call and they would always see him right away to fix the issue. It would be that same day, if not, early morning the next day. Only did a consult. Decided to go somewhere else. Dr seems very professional and knowledgeable. He’s a 5/5. The office manager was also great. Was great at his job, good at communicating, was able to get us an appt quickly. Wait time was excruciating! The appt took 1.5 hrs. Most of which was in the waiting room. Masks are required but office staff wore masks below noses and often under chin. Many patients didn’t wear at all. Also expensive. About $1,000 more than other places. Office staff and safety in waiting room 3/5. Wait time 1/5.

Amazing orthodontist, dental techs, and service staff. I'm about 1 year into having my braces and it's been nothing short of a stellar experience. The location is a little out of the way, but well worth it, as every visit you'll feel taken care of in their bright and clean facility. My only gripe, and the reason they lose 1 star is their special promotions are unreliable and although I shouldn't, I honestly feel cheated.I signed up with them and remember they were offering about a $200 Amazon gift card. I set a payment plan and assumed I would get the gift card when the payment was complete. I never got one. I brought it up with the receptionist and she was super nice and helpful but her hands were tied as it wasn't her department or within her power to do anything about it. Months go by, nothing. I ask again when my recent appointment comes around, and the receptionist promises to get me something. And I finally receive a $100 Target gift card (their current promo is a $400 Amazon gift card) - Like, cool I guess, it's something, but it was neither what I was promised, nor does it feel like they felt like they messed up as they were supposed to give me the promo the moment I signed up. Honestly, just felt like they scrounged up something they had lying about and tossed it at me to shut me up. Okay, thanks?

I had such a an amazing experience at my consult today! I’m starting Invisalign here and every staff member that assisted me today was kind & gave me all the information I needed to make the best decision for myself!4 Month Update:I started my Invisalign in July & I just had my first appointment to check on my progress. Everything is going well with my treatment. I’m fortunate that my Invisalign isn’t hurting me very much at all. There is some discomfort on the first day on a new aligner but it goes away quickly. Today I was cleared to change my aligners every 7 days. I’ll post an update when I get to the end of my treatment!
