Yan Kalika, DMD, MS is a certified specialist in orthodontics and dentofacial orthopedics. He is an active member of the American Dental Association, the California Dental Association, the American Association of Orthodontics, the Pacific Coast Society of Orthodontics and the San Francisco Dental Society.
Dr. Kalika graduated with honors and Phi Beta Kappa from the University of California at Berkeley in 1993, majoring in chemistry. While at Berkeley, he was in the Students Honor Society and Golden Key Honor Society.
He received his dental degree from Harvard School of Dental Medicine in 1998. In addition, he completed a fellowship in Washington D.C. in the field of dental health policy. While at Harvard, Dr. Kalika served as president of the American Student Dental Association where he received a national award of excellence. He was a lecturer at the Harvard School of Dental Medicine and Harvard School of Public Health. He received honors in all clinical disciplines at Harvard School of Dental Medicine, the Soma Weiss Research Scholarship and an International Research Fellowship from Harvard Medical School.
Dr. Kalika completed his orthodontic training at the University of California at San Francisco where he received a specialty certificate in orthodontics and facial orthopedics and a master’s degree in oral biology. He is committed to providing quality orthodontic treatment while exceeding patients and parents’ expectations.

Christine Hong, DMD, MS is a board-certified specialist in orthodontics and dentofacial orthopedics. She is an active member and Diplomat of the American Board of Orthodontics. Dr. Hong is also a member of the American Association of Orthodontists, American Dental Association, and San Francisco Dental Society.
Dr. Hong completed her dental education Cum Laude from Harvard University, following which she pursued advanced training in orthodontics and an MS in Oral Biology at UCLA. Immediately following the completion of her residency, she became a faculty member at UCLA, where she was an Associate Professor and Predoctoral Orthodontic Program Director. Dr. Hong is currently Associate Professor and Graduate Orthodontics Program Director in the Division of Orthodontics at the University of San Francisco. She also holds Adjunct Associate Profession at Orthodontic Departments at three Korean universities, Yonsei University, Ajou University, and Kyung Hee University.
Dr. Hong is extensively involved in research and has published more than 90 articles and presentations in publications such as the American Journal of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics, Journal of Dental Research and American Association of Orthodontics. She has received numerous awards and research funding the American Association of Orthodontists Foundation, Cleft Palate Foundation and National Institute of Health.
Dr. Hong’s practice philosophy is shaped by the most current research in the field of orthodontics, and she brings her dedication and passion for new knowledge and technology to her patient care. She has endless energy that she channels into making sure each patient receives a quality experience each time they step into the office, as well as customizing treatment plans to patient preferences with a focus on optimal oral function, esthetics and health. Dr. Hong is committed to producing a positive impact on the lives of children, teens and adults through orthodontics.
Dr. Hong lives in San Francisco with her husband and two children. She enjoys spending time with her family, riding horses and traveling. Dr. Hong volunteers for several organizations to support underserved youth, the homeless and global communities in need of health services, as well is involved in creating programs through education, rescue, and fostering for abandoned animals.
