What is the process for getting Invisalign® treatment?
The process of getting Invisalign treatment begins with an initial consultation where your suitability for the treatment will be determined. During this consultation, an examination will be conducted to evaluate if Invisalign is the right choice for you.
If you are deemed a suitable candidate, the next step involves taking impressions of your teeth. These impressions are used to create a 3-D model of your smile, allowing for a precise assessment of your teeth alignment. The model is then sent to the Invisalign lab, where a series of custom-made aligner trays will be created specifically for your treatment.
Once your aligner trays are ready, you will begin wearing them. It is recommended to keep the aligner trays on for at least 22 hours a day, taking them off only when eating or brushing your teeth. Each set of trays is typically worn for a two-week period before moving on to the next set. This progressive transition allows for gradual tooth movement, ultimately helping them shift into their correct positions and deliver a beautifully straightened smile.
Upon completion of the Invisalign treatment, it is common for patients to receive a retainer. The retainer helps maintain the newly achieved straight smile and prevents teeth from shifting out of place. In most cases, patients are fitted with a permanent retainer that is discreetly placed on the back of their teeth, making it virtually invisible when worn.

BONUS: Frequently asked questions about Invisalign
Yes! Invisalign treatment can be a great solution for both adults and teens looking for a virtually invisible method to improve their smile. Our innovations and technological advancements make it possible to fix nearly all common teeth-straightening and bite issues, from simple to complex — all without interrupting your busy life. And, thanks to a discreet blue dot on the outside of teen aligners, parents can be sure their child is wearing their clear aligners enough.
Bring your questions. You should also bring your insurance card and any information you might have about your dental history.
During your consultation, your doctor will discuss your teeth-straightening goals with you and examine your smile in order to determine your specific needs. Your doctor may also talk to you about how quickly you can reach your new smile, as well as treatment cost.
Your doctor will most likely recommend scheduling a dental checkup and cleaning before you begin Invisalign treatment to make sure your teeth and gums are in top health and to avoid unnecessary risks.
The length of treatment depends on multiple factors, like how complex your case is and how often you wear your aligners. Your doctor will determine exactly how long your treatment will take based on your specific needs. On average, Invisalign treatment time is 12 to 18 months, though you can start seeing results in a matter of weeks.
Your doctor will tell you how often you should change to new aligners (this can vary based on your individual treatment plan). Many doctors recommend changing Invisalign clear aligners weekly or every other week.
For the best results, wear your Invisalign clear aligners 20 to 22 hours a day, taking them out just for eating, drinking, brushing, and flossing.
Your doctor will schedule regular appointments, usually about once every four to six weeks. The goal of these visits is to ensure your Invisalign treatment is progressing as planned.
Invisalign treatment options are available for just top or bottom teeth, but consult your doctor for your individual needs.
